With over 100 essential oils in its product line, dōTERRA sources its oils from over 40 countries —more than half of which could be considered developing countries. To ensure that small scale farmers and harvesters in disadvantaged areas are treated ethically, dōTERRA has introduced an initiative called Cō-Impact Sourcing.

Cō-Impact Sourcing is an initiative that seeks to develop long-term, mutually beneficial supplier partnerships while creating sustainable jobs and providing reliable income in underdeveloped areas. dōTERRA is committed to the ethical treatment of its suppliers by providing on-time payments at fair prices. Growers and harvesters are encouraged to form cooperative groups to share collective benefits and bargaining power while improving skills and capacity.

CPTG Quality Testing

The purity of an essential oil is its most important characteristic. An essential oil that isn’t pure means you run the risk of putting germs, heavy metals, or adulterants onto or into your body, which can provoke irritation, adverse effects, or even sickness. Without an accepted standard for essential oil quality, dōTERRA created its own testing process, calling it CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade®. The CPTG process certifies that there are no added fillers, synthetic ingredients, or harmful contaminants in their essential oils that would reduce their efficacy. dōTERRA even goes a step further, putting all their products and the packaging through a battery of tests to ensure a long and effective shelf-life. This protocol ensures potency, purity, and consistency batch to batch.

The CPTG® Process

The CPTG testing begins immediately after distillation with each oil being reviewed for its chemical composition. A second round of testing is carried out at our production facility to ensure that what was distilled and tested is the same essential oil as was received. A third review of the chemistry of the oil is conducted in a three-phase procedure as the oils are packaged into the bottles we use as consumers. Each of these tests confirms that the essential oil is free of contaminants and unexpected alterations during production.

The CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade quality protocol includes the following tests:

ClaryCalm   Essential Oil Blend

This is the oil blend that got me hooked on essential oils, or my gateway oil if you will. I am forever grateful to my friend who was brave enough and kind enough to share this oil with me when I was experiencing discomfort from my left ovary. Today, it is still one of my most used oils: for mood swings, hormonal imbalances, and monthly uterus cramping. I even use it just as a perfume; I always get compliments when I wear it, because it truly does smell amazing! I definitely keep this in my "Hot Mess Express Bag"—I don't leave home without it!

Wild Orange Essential Oil

As soon as I open a bottle of Wild Orange, I'm immediately transported back to my childhood when I lived with my grandmother in Trinidad & Tobago. It just reminds me so much of the orange juice I used to drink. Cold pressed from the peel, Wild Orange is one of dōTERRA’s top selling essential oils due to its energizing aroma and multiple health benefits. I love to use this oil with peppermint to uplift my mood. It is also fantastic for calming anxious feelings. I often diffuse it at night for a restful night sleep. I also use it during my meditation practice when I'm in a state of gratitude, as it is also known as the oil of abundance.

Balance Essential Oil Blend

I don't think I could survive a day without Balance! I honestly don't know how I survived without it during my non-essential oil days. This oil always gives me a sense of calm and balance. Blended with mostly root oils, it a grounding blend, and helps to keep you rooted and brings harmony to the mind and body for those crazy and hectic days. Whenever I am feeling anxious, this is my go to oil. I apply it under my feet, behind my neck and over my heart. Then I cup over my face and take several deep breaths.
